Discus throwing is the only modern practice taken directly from antiquity, a discipline of pentathlon.
The weight of the device fluctuated between 1.3 and 4.7 kg. In Olympia, three discs were kept for the competitions. Thrown was thrown with rotation from a pitch. Discus tossing gave off many attractive motifs for the visual arts. For the estimation of the record throw of 28.17 m (between 500 and 480 BC) handed down to the athlete Phayllos, knowledge of the discus weight is missing.
