  A tall young lady as Tanagra
 
 
Her bonnet is tapered at the back of her head, larger blue 
indicate that the headdress was originally dyed blue.

She is depicted barefoot. Her robe, a chiton, falls to her ankles. 
 
The figure is cut open on the back to prevent the hot gases from burning the terracotta statue
would cause the tanagra to burst.
 
Original exhibit of the National Archaeological Museum of Athens,
ca. 270-250 B.C. The paint was applied by hand.
